HPCMP JEOM 2010 | Modeling & Simulation at BEYA 2010
(Left photo) The Defense Department's (DoD) High Performance Computing Modernization Program office (HPCMP) created the Joint Educational Opportunities for Minorities (JEOM) program for students from underrepresented groups, who are pursuing studies in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines. The goal of this program is two-fold: 1) ensure a competitive and diverse workforce within the DoD by offering training, mentorship, and career development for undergraduate students in STEM disciplines and 2) to provide opportunities for students who have an interest in computational science and high performance computing challenges important to DoD. Exhibiting this year with DoD during the BEYA STEM Expo in Baltimore this February were Ms. Pamela Gilliam (left [BDPA-DC]) and Ms. Deborah Schwartz (right). Ms. Gilliam and Ms. Schwartz support and manage HPCMP's Oversight & Outreach Program respectively, and strongly encourage BDPA Student Members and  qualified students to apply well before their  March 22, 2010 suspense date.  (Right photo) Area students visited one of many exhibits on display during the BEYA STEM Expo including video games, war games, robotics, and flight simulators (shown above provided by The Boeing Company.)
