POSITION DESCRIPTION

Medtronic’s complaint handling process consists of four primary steps: complaint processing, complaint monitoring, signal investigation, and corrective / preventative action. The Sr. Statistician’s main responsibility is execution and continuous improvement of Medtronic Neuromodulation’s complaint monitoring process step. In addition to being responsible for complaint monitoring, the incumbent will collaborate with business partners on complaint monitoring signal investigations, integration of the complaint monitoring process into the overall complaint handling process, and ownership of data analysis projects.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, improve, and execute statistical techniques, software tools, and business processes used for product performance monitoring/analyses 
• Analyze complaint monitoring results and collaborate with business partners to determine root cause 
• Conduct custom analyses 
• Author and critically review technical reports 
• Maintain proficiency in statistical techniques, programming, and data management best practices 
• Maintain technical and clinical knowledge of Medtronic products and therapies 
• Ensure personal understanding and adherence to applicable procedures to ensure quality system compliance and high quality work

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: 
• Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Computer Science, or Engineering 
EXPERIENCE: 
• 4+ years of experience with a Bachelor’s 
• 2+ years of experience with a Master’s 
SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED: 
• Proficiency in at least one programming language: Visual Basic, C++, S+, R, SQL, etc.

 

DESIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Excellent verbal and written communication of technical content to non-statisticians 
• Proficiency in statistical programming (e.g. R, S+, SAS) 
• Advanced degree in math, statistics, computer science, or related field 
• Extensive R programming experience 
• Statistical process control experience 
• Survival analysis experience 
• Medical device domain knowledge 
• Project management experience 
• Experience working in a regulated industry 
• Six Sigma certified
